Tieton is applying for Creative District status with ArtsWA, the state of Washington’s arts commission.
The process is thorough and rigorous.
The primary organizations involved in the initiative are Boxx Gallery, Tieton Arts & Humanities, and Mighty Tieton, LLC. Boxx and TA&H are 501 (c)3 entities with long histories of arts and cultural support in our community. Boxx 10 years, and TA&H 17+. Mighty Tieton, LLC started the initiative to revitalize the economy of Tieton through art, design, and creative entrepreneurship in 2005, and it has a long track record of success.
The boards and owners of these entities all agree that now is the time to step up our outreach, ambitions, and effectiveness in Tieton, and the Creative District designation application offers us an opportunity to formalize and amplify our efforts.
This initiative requires evidence of past and future community participation to all sectors, including the underrepresented residents, and our focus this year is to document and expand our efforts.
All of these organizations are strong believers that human rights are social justice are essential components in a successful community.
The Board of Directors of Friends of Boxx Gallery has agreed to be the primary entity to act as the organizer for the Creative District Initiative. It has a centrally located building that contains an active art gallery and a classroom space.
It has dedicated volunteers from the community and environs who are eager to expand community access, participation, and contribution to the programing of Boxx Gallery through exhibitions, classes, workshops, and mentorships.
It aligns with the organizational structure required by ArtsWA for a successful application.
Boxx Gallery is always looking for volunteers and donations to support our work.
